What We Took Away From Forex Expo Dubai 2026: Prop Firms Are No Longer the Headline

Dubai, once again, became the meeting point of the global trading world. Our correspondent Regina was on the ground as Forex Expo Dubai took place on 22–23 September 2026 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, Halls 1–5, and she came back with a clear message: the industry is changing faster than most traders realise.

A packed floor, from brokers to prop firms

This year marked the ninth edition of the event, which organisers said would bring together more than 250 exhibitors and 150 speakers, along with brokerages, IBs, liquidity providers, payment firms and trading-technology companies. Walking through the halls, familiar names were everywhere: Exness, Vantage, XM, MultiBank Group, GTC, Honor Financial, Markets4you, MH Markets and prop firm FundingPips, among many others. The concourses around Hall 4 were busy from the first hours, with traders and industry professionals queuing to meet brokers, attend sessions and network.

Just outside the venue, the Dubai skyline set the tone. The Museum of the Future sat against a row of towers along Sheikh Zayed Road, a fitting backdrop for an event focused on where trading goes next.

From prop firms to prediction markets

Based on Regina's report from the floor and from the perspective of our founder, Franky, who brings 20+ years of experience in the forex industry, a few shifts stood out this year.

Last year, prop firms dominated the conversation. This year, attention is clearly spreading to other niches:

  • Prediction markets are gaining visibility as a new product category.

  • 24/7 CFD markets, including round-the-clock metals and energies, are being pushed by more providers.

  • Synthetic indices continue to attract interest as an alternative to traditional instruments.

The platform race is heating up

One of the biggest themes on the floor was competition in trading platforms. For years, MetaQuotes (MT4/MT5) has been the default choice for retail brokers. Now more providers are challenging that position with their own platforms.

Beyond the platforms themselves, infrastructure providers such as oneZero, PrimeXM, and Centroid were a notable presence. These are the bridge, liquidity, and risk-management layers that connect brokers, liquidity providers, and trading platforms. Most retail traders never hear these names, yet they shape how orders are executed every day.

What this means for traders

For retail traders, the takeaway is simple. The number of products, platforms, and trading hours available is expanding. More choice brings more opportunity, but also more complexity. New products like prediction markets and synthetic indices behave differently from the currency pairs and commodities most traders learned on. Before jumping in, it pays to understand how a product is priced, how it's regulated, and what risks it carries.

Events like this are a reminder that even for those who have spent decades in the industry, there is always something new to learn. Markets evolve, products evolve, and traders who keep learning are the ones who keep up. That's a mindset every trader should share.

For brokers: new products need educated clients

Every new product on the expo floor, from prediction markets to synthetic indices, comes with the same challenge: clients who don't understand a product rarely trade it well, or for long. Education is no longer a nice-to-have. It is part of client retention.
